The Astrological Moon: The Soul’s Intuitive Compass
Introduction
In the grand nature of the cosmos, the Moon plays a important yet profound role. It ( as the moon is considered as female planet) does not blaze like the Sun, nor thunder like the outer planets—but it whispers reality and truths that communicate directly to the soul. In vedic astrology, the Moon is more than a celestial body revolving around the Earth. it is the karaka (keeper) of memory, emotion, instinct, and the inner tides that shape our every moment.
The astrological Moon governs our emotional landscape, our intuition, and the hidden patterns that move us when no one else is looking. It is the quiet force behind our moods, our dreams, and the comfort we seek in the dark. Through it, we understand how we show and express love, how we tackle, and how we care ourselves and others.
To study the Moon is to embark on a journey inward—to meet the self not as it performs or acts, but as it truly is. This is not a casual endeavor. It is the journey of anyone who wishes to know themselves deeply and live with greater emotional truth. And yet, the Moon welcomes all seekers with grace and warmth.
Astrological appearance of moon –
Its really fascinating to know the appearance of the moon. The Moon has a bulky (large) body. It is in its youth as well as in its adulthood i.e. same in all stages of its age. Its body is white and weak; its hair is minute and black; its eyes are very beautiful; there is predominance of blood in its body; i.e. the Moon controls the blood circulation and other fluids in the body.
The Moon has a soft voice and is fair-skinned and wears white clothes. It is mild (soft) – in body as well as in nature. Among the three doshas, it has special dominion over phlegm and wind, i.e. the Moon will cause Vata disease or Kapha disease or Vata-Kaphatmak disease in its antardasha(one of the stage of planetary transit). Remember that the Vata, Pitta and Kapha are the three primary doshas ruling over body ; and the Sattva, Raja and Tamasa are the three primary Gunas over mind. They are important too while studying astrology.
Factors associated with moon –
We all know that , there are some times when moon takes predominance over the sun according to vedic astrology because its very much the emotions, the controller of our actions.
Mother’s well-being, happiness of mind, sea, ocean, fluids, bath, white colored objects, shelter, umbrella, beautiful fans (royal symbol), fruits, flowers, soft objects, farming, food, fame, pearls, silver, bronze, milk, sweets, clothes, water, cow, woman all this should be measured by moon.
What is Moon-
It gives coolness to the eyes. Therefore, according to Lakshan Shastra (symbolically), it is a water planet. When other water planets combine with the moon , it gives a person having career in water related elements such as navy, aquarium, ship, swiming, etc. the moon gives soothing effect to our senses, reduces inflammatory diseases with respect to medical astrology. Its remedies often stabilizes the person from taking rash decisions. The sun controls over outer personality but the moon describes inner self of a person.
A natural friend –
This planet is everyone’s friend (to the planets in astrology). Therefore, when the Ascendant (sign of the first house in a birth chart) becomes strong and establishes an auspicious relationship (through conjunction or vision) with the fourth house (people) and the fourth house (by conjunction or vision), then it makes the person loved by all and engaged in public activities (Politics, human resources, epidemical health, etc).
Since it is not anyone’s enemy and is considered as the wife of the Sun, hence is the mother to all. Therefore, age of mother, her health should be decided from the strength of the fourth house in birth chart, lord of the fourth house and the strength of the Moon.
Regarding the Moon, it has been mentioned in the Vedas that ‘Chandrama Manaso Jaat’ means that the Moon was born from the mind of the great time ( kaalpurush). Therefore, the state of mind should be seen from the fourth house of ascendant as well as from the state of the moon. There are total 27 wives of the moon and they are called as nakshtras i.e. constallation.i know that, here it sounds contradictory to the moon who is wife of the sun and also has so much wives; its just the amusements and randomness in astrology that you are gonna enjoy through this journey.
